About The Role
The People Operations Specialist manages the systems, processes, and employee support programs that keep a distributed technology organization running smoothly. The role owns day-to-day administration across the HRIS, payroll, benefits, onboarding, offboarding, and employee data workflows.
This role matters because accurate people operations enable a strong employee experience and reliable business reporting. The specialist will maintain clean records in tools such as Rippling, Workday, or BambooHR; coordinate with payroll and benefits vendors; and improve processes as the organization scales.
Key Responsibilities
Administer employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, transfers, leave tracking, offboarding, and employment verification, using the HRIS and ticketing systems
Maintain accurate employee records, organizational data, access requests, and documentation across the HRIS, payroll platform, and related systems
Coordinate payroll processing with Finance and external providers, reviewing changes to compensation, deductions, tax elections, and time-off balances
Manage benefits administration, including enrollments, qualifying life events, open enrollment, employee questions, and vendor escalations
Build and maintain onboarding workflows across tools such as Rippling, Workday, BambooHR, Slack, Google Workspace, and Jira
Prepare recurring people reports and audits covering headcount, turnover, compensation changes, leave usage, and data completeness
Document policies and operating procedures, identify process gaps, and deliver improvements that reduce manual work and response times
What We Are Looking For
1-3 years of experience in people operations, HR administration, HRIS support, or a related function
Hands-on experience with an HRIS such as Rippling, Workday, BambooHR, or HiBob, plus strong proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office
Working knowledge of payroll, benefits administration, employee records, onboarding, and employment compliance requirements
Strong attention to detail when handling confidential data, audits, deadlines, and multi-step employee transactions
Comfort working with spreadsheets, including filters, lookups, pivot tables, and basic data validation
Clear written and verbal communication skills with the judgment to handle sensitive employee questions professionally
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field preferred; Bonus: experience supporting a distributed technology workforce, familiarity with Jira or ServiceNow, and exposure to HR reporting or people analytics
