Contracts Manager / Claims Consultant

Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager / Claims Consultant to lead contract administration, commercial management, claims management, dispute resolution, and contractual risk control across construction, engineering, infrastructure, and development projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead contract administration and commercial management throughout the project lifecycle.
Review, negotiate, and manage contracts, subcontracts, variations, amendments, payment terms, and commercial agreements.
Identify, assess, and manage contractual, commercial, financial, and project risks.
Lead the preparation, evaluation, and negotiation of claims, variations, extensions of time, loss and expense, and compensation events.
Analyse contract provisions, project records, correspondence, schedules, costs, and supporting documentation to establish contractual entitlement.
Monitor project progress, contractual obligations, payment milestones, variations, and commercial performance.
Prepare and review commercial reports, contract notices, claims submissions, contractual correspondence, and management reports.
Work closely with project managers, quantity surveyors, engineers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, legal teams, and clients to resolve contractual issues.
Lead commercial negotiations and settlement discussions to protect project and business interests.
Support dispute avoidance, mediation, adjudication, arbitration, and other formal dispute resolution processes where required.
Establish and maintain contract management procedures, claims registers, risk registers, and commercial controls.
Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, procurement policies, project procedures, and applicable regulations.
Provide commercial and contractual advice during tendering, procurement, project execution, variations, and project close-out.
Mentor and support contracts, commercial, quantity surveying, and claims team members.
Requirements & Qualifications
Diploma/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Law, Commercial Management, or a related field.
Professional qualifications such as RICS, CIOB, SCL, CIArb, or equivalent are preferred.
Proven experience in contract management, claims consultancy, commercial management, quantity surveying, or a related senior role.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts, contract administration, claims management, variations, extensions of time, and commercial risk management.
Familiarity with standard contract forms such as FIDIC, NEC, JCT, or other relevant construction and engineering contracts.
Strong ability to analyse contractual provisions, project records, programme delays, costs, and commercial evidence.
Strong negotiation, analytical, commercial, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
Experience working with clients, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, legal advisers, and project teams.
Experience across construction, infrastructure, engineering, property development, or major capital projects is preferred.
Proven track record of managing complex contracts, commercial negotiations, claims, variations, and contractual disputes.
