Role Description The Department Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the Kolkata metropolitan area, responsible for driving sales, customer experience, and operational excellence within an assigned department. The role involves planning and executing merchandising and inventory management, ensuring optimal stock levels, visual presentation, and timely replenishment. The Department Manager leads and develops team members through clear performance expectations, coaching, and scheduling to meet store targets and service standards. Daily responsibilities include monitoring key performance indicators, implementing promotional activities, managing shrinkage and compliance with company policies, and coordinating with cross-functional teams for seamless store operations. The role also requires addressing customer queries and feedback promptly, maintaining a safe and inclusive work environment, and supporting store leadership in achieving overall business objectives.
Qualifications
Retail operations and merchandising skills, including inventory management, visual merchandising, and understanding of fashion retail KPIs.
People management and leadership capabilities, such as team supervision, performance coaching, and workforce planning.
Customer service and communication skills, with the ability to handle escalations, build customer relationships, and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
Analytical and problem-solving skills, including data-driven decision-making, basic reporting, and ability to optimize processes.
Sales and business development orientation, with experience in achieving targets, implementing promotions, and driving conversion and basket size.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in basic computer applications and retail systems; familiarity with POS and inventory tools is preferred.
