About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Machine Learning Engineer to join our team at Capital One. In this role, you will be at the forefront of AI innovation, responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable machine learning models that address complex business challenges. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and product managers, to create robust data pipelines, optimize ML infrastructure, and ensure the seamless integration of models into production environments. Your expertise will directly contribute to transforming our AI capabilities and enhancing our customer solutions across various platforms and services.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background and extensive experience in machine learning, data engineering, and software development. A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field is required, with advanced degrees preferred. Candidates should have at least 4 years of programming experience with Python, Java, or similar languages, and a proven track record working with industry-standard ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch. Experience with large-scale distributed systems like Spark or Ray, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, is essential. Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and best practices in CI/CD, model governance, and responsible AI are highly valued. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s or Doctoral degree, experience leading ML projects, and published research or contributions to the field.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement machine learning models and components that solve real-world business problems, collaborating closely with product and data science teams.
Make informed decisions on ML infrastructure, including model selection, data preprocessing, feature engineering, hyperparameter tuning, and validation techniques.
Develop and automate data pipelines to support scalable training and inference of ML models, ensuring data quality and integrity.
Build, test, and deploy ML solutions in cloud environments, leveraging technologies like AWS, GCP, or Azure, and manage them using container orchestration tools.
Monitor, maintain, and retrain models in production to ensure optimal performance, accuracy, and compliance with governance standards.
Implement best practices in software engineering, including version control, testing, code reviews, and automated deployment pipelines.
Ensure models and code adhere to responsible AI principles, including transparency, fairness, and explainability, while managing risks and vulnerabilities.
Collaborate within Agile teams to continuously improve ML workflows, infrastructure, and deployment strategies.
Utilize programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java to develop scalable solutions and automate processes.
