The Mobile Game UX Designer contract role focuses on crafting intuitive, engaging user experiences for mobile games in a fully remote setting. Day-to-day work includes translating game concepts into user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes, while collaborating with game designers, artists, and developers to refine the overall experience. The designer conducts user research and playtesting sessions, analyzes player behavior, and iterates on UX solutions based on insights and data. Responsibilities also include creating clear interaction patterns, optimizing onboarding and tutorials, and ensuring accessibility and usability across different devices and screen sizes. The role involves documenting UX decisions, presenting design rationale to the team, and maintaining alignment with Counterspell’s creative vision and experimental spirit.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Design Thinking and User Experience, with the ability to frame problems, explore solutions, and deliver player-centered experiences.
Experience with User Research, including planning studies, conducting interviews or playtests, and synthesizing findings into actionable UX improvements.
Proficiency in Visual Design and Prototyping using modern tools to create clear, polished, and testable interfaces.
Ability to design mobile game flows, interaction patterns, and UI layouts tailored to touch-based platforms and different device form factors.
Portfolio demonstrating shipped or in-progress mobile games or interactive experiences, highlighting UX process and outcomes.
Effective remote collaboration skills, including clear communication, openness to feedback, and comfort working with distributed, cross-disciplinary teams.
Familiarity with game design principles, usability heuristics, and accessibility best practices for mobile experiences.
Relevant education or equivalent professional experience in UX design, interaction design, game design, or a related field.
