About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Data Engineer Intern to join our dynamic team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of AI infrastructure development, focusing on transforming raw, unstructured source data into clean, reliable, and production-ready tables. Under the mentorship of our Founding Data & Observability Engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining medallion pipelines—bronze, silver, and gold—using Databricks and Delta Lake technologies. Your work will directly contribute to the core platform that enables our clients to make data-driven decisions with confidence. This internship is designed for exceptional early-career engineers who demonstrate a passion for data craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a desire to accelerate their professional growth in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background with a high GPA, preferably from top-tier universities such as IIT, NIT, or SRM. You should have a proven track record of transforming complex, messy source data into clean, trustworthy datasets. Expertise in SQL is essential, with hands-on experience working with Databricks, Delta Lake, and the Lakehouse architecture being highly desirable. Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL for data modeling and querying is required. You must be detail-oriented with a relentless focus on data quality, capable of identifying and addressing edge cases effectively. Resourcefulness and problem-solving skills are critical, as you will be given clear objectives but expected to chart your own path to success. Familiarity with Python, orchestration tools like Airflow or Spark, Unity Catalog, and containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes are advantageous but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
Your core responsibilities will include:
Designing and implementing medallion pipelines (bronze, silver, gold) on Databricks with Delta Lake to facilitate reliable data processing.
Converting inconsistent, undocumented, and real-world data sources—including exports, spreadsheets, semantic models, and transactional systems—into clean, structured datasets.
Developing high-performance SQL queries and data models within PostgreSQL to support operational and analytical needs.
Tracing data lineage and ensuring that each metric and dataset is auditable, reproducible, and transparent from source to final output.
Building pipelines with clean instrumentation to facilitate monitoring, debugging, and maintenance.
Collaborating closely with team members to understand project requirements and deliver solutions that meet high-quality standards.
Continuously learning and applying best practices in data engineering, pipeline optimization, and data governance.
This role demands precision, execution excellence, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, with an emphasis on delivering high-standard, scalable data pipelines.
