Freelance Art Director

At LENA, we believe the strongest creative work begins with a clear strategy. We're building a network of talented freelance Art Directors who can join us on a project basis to translate approved brand strategies into thoughtful, inspiring visual directions.
We're looking for someone who loves exploring ideas, building creative concepts, and presenting a compelling visual vision.
This is a highly collaborative role where you'll work alongside our strategists to create distinct creative territories that help clients discover the visual direction that feels most authentic to their brand. This is a client-facing role, so we're looking for someone who is confident presenting creative work, explaining design decisions, and facilitating thoughtful discussions around creative direction.
What You'll Do
You'll lead the conceptual visual direction for client brands, including:
Translating approved brand strategy into visual concepts
Developing three distinct Creative Territories, each exploring a unique aesthetic direction
Creating moodboards, visual inspiration, and design references that communicate each territory
Exploring typography, color, imagery, composition, materials, and overall visual language
Presenting creative territories and explaining the strategic thinking behind each direction
Collaborating with Brand Strategists and copywriters throughout the creative process
Refining concepts based on client feedback while maintaining creative integrity
Providing clear creative direction for the next phase of visual identity development
We're Looking For Someone who
Has experience developing creative concepts for brands
Thinks conceptually before jumping into execution
Can translate strategy into cohesive visual directions
Has exceptional taste and a strong understanding of visual storytelling
Is confident presenting creative ideas to clients
Can clearly articulate the reasoning behind design decisions
Thrives in collaborative creative environments
Is organized, self-directed, and comfortable working remotely
