About The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Python Developer to join MANTECH’s dynamic team in Herndon, VA. This role is integral to supporting projects that serve the Intelligence Community, contributing to national security initiatives. The successful candidate will work alongside talented software developers, data engineers, and system engineers to develop and enhance software solutions that address emerging threats and operational needs. The Python Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing software components, ensuring they meet rigorous security and performance standards. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within an agile team.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development with relevant experience in Python programming. A minimum of 7 years of overall software development experience is required, with at least 3 years of recent hands-on experience in Python. Candidates should have a solid understanding of SQL and database management, along with experience in front-end or full-stack development. A high school diploma is required, though a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field is preferred. The candidate must hold an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph to qualify for this role. Proven experience working in secure environments and familiarity with agile methodologies are highly desirable.
Responsibilities
Understand project requirements and translate them into functional software components through design and development.
Research new software concepts, develop prototypes, and demonstrate proof-of-concept solutions to stakeholders.
Collaborate with team members to understand existing product features and identify areas for improvement.
Develop and maintain automated unit and integration tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and adhering to best coding practices.
Engage in the project’s agile development lifecycle, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Communicate effectively with fellow developers and occasionally with end-users to gather feedback and clarify requirements.
