About The Role
Vaco LLC is seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps & IT Operations Engineer to join its dynamic team in the Nashville, TN area. This hybrid, full-time position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to lead the organization’s cloud infrastructure, DevOps processes, and IT operations. As a key owner of the company’s cloud-native platform, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and reliable systems. The role requires a proactive individual who enjoys building automation solutions, troubleshooting complex issues, and driving operational excellence. You will work closely with engineering leadership to influence infrastructure decisions and contribute to the company’s growth and technological advancement. This position provides a unique chance to make a tangible impact on the organization’s technical landscape and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, SRE, or IT Operations.
Extensive hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in production environments.
Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
Experience in building, supporting, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, particularly with GitLab.
Strong understanding of system monitoring, logging, alerting, and overall system reliability management.
Demonstrated ability to manage cloud security, scalability, and operational best practices.
Experience in internal IT operations, endpoint administration, and vendor management.
Excellent scripting skills and familiarity with automation tools, AI integrations, and modern operational practices.
Nice to have qualifications include experience in highly regulated environments, disaster recovery planning, security-focused roles, and a strong interest in leveraging AI for operational efficiency. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, a problem-solving mindset, and a passion for continuous learning and innovation.
Responsibilities
Own and manage AWS infrastructure across multiple environments to ensure high availability and security.
Develop, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, ensuring consistent and scalable deployments.
Create and optimize GitLab CI/CD pipelines to streamline development workflows and deployment processes.
Monitor system health using advanced monitoring, alerting, and logging tools; proactively address issues to maintain system reliability.
Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning, testing, and execution to minimize downtime and data loss.
Enhance cloud security protocols, manage access controls, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Support internal IT operations, including endpoint administration, user account management, and vendor relations.
Drive automation initiatives utilizing scripting, AI tools, and modern operational methodologies to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Collaborate with engineering teams and leadership to make informed infrastructure decisions aligned with organizational goals.
