About The Role
The Network & Security Engineer Senior Consultant at Visa is a vital part of our infrastructure team, responsible for managing and enhancing Visa's internal data communications systems, including local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs). This role involves designing, planning, and implementing networked systems to support Visa’s operational needs. You will be tasked with managing configurations, troubleshooting network issues, and coordinating with vendors for the installation of networking hardware such as routers, switches, bridges, and concentrators. The position also encompasses project management activities, including proposal writing, project planning, cost analysis, and vendor comparisons. Additionally, this role emphasizes digital fluency, requiring familiarity with emerging technologies like Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work functions. The role offers a hybrid work environment, with in-office days to be confirmed by your hiring manager, providing flexibility and collaboration opportunities.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or at least 5 years with an advanced degree such as a Master’s, MBA, JD, or MD. Alternatively, candidates with 11+ years of experience in the field are also considered. Preferred qualifications include over nine years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or seven or more years with an advanced degree. Candidates should have extensive experience in network design and engineering, particularly in customer-facing networks. Proven expertise in IP networking, switching, and routing within MPLS-based environments is essential. Certification or hands-on experience with Cisco networking devices at the CCNP level or equivalent is expected. Knowledge of IP routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP, Cisco encryption technologies (IPSec, SSL), standby protocols (HSRP, VRRP), and NAT is required. Experience with scripting for automation, deploying SDWAN solutions (Cisco, Versa), and working with cloud connectivity platforms like AWS and GCP is highly desirable. Candidates with experience in network management tools (Solarwinds, Netbrain), network monitoring, and automation infrastructure (Terraform, Ansible, Python) will stand out. Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and enterprise DDI systems (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) is also preferred.
Responsibilities
Design, engineer, and support robust IP networks that underpin Visa’s commercial infrastructure, ensuring reliable connectivity for clients and internal teams. Develop comprehensive network design documentation for project teams, support staff, and vendors to facilitate seamless implementation and maintenance. Lead efforts to provision new client processing capabilities by executing necessary network updates and providing technical assistance during network changes. Provide third-level support to resolve complex network issues, collaborating closely with other Visa teams to troubleshoot and resolve problems efficiently. Work with Cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with Visa’s security standards and assist in the investigation and analysis of security incidents. Oversee the management and maintenance of DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) infrastructure, ensuring high availability and optimal performance. Implement DNS changes, manage domain provisioning, and support network segmentation through ACLs, subnets, and DHCP scopes. Develop self-service tools that enhance visibility into network health and performance for application and infrastructure teams. Architect and deliver innovative solutions to enable connectivity between private data centers and public cloud platforms, including automation templates for deploying cloud infrastructure. Drive the development of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, promoting automation and operational efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network automation, security protocols, and monitoring solutions, ensuring scalable and secure network architecture.
