Staff AI Engineer

It addresses the challenge of managing these conditions by applying AI Digital Twin technology to create personalized metabolic models. These models leverage data from continuous glucose monitors, smartwatches, and meal logs to map individual health pathways. The organization''s approach aims to lower A1C levels, support lasting weight loss, and reduce medication reliance, impacting members'' health outcomes across the U.S. and globally.
2. About the Opportunity:
The Staff AI Engineer will lead technical strategies within the Core AI team, focusing on AI-driven health products. This role is responsible for developing the architecture and infrastructure that power AI systems, including predictive and generative models, to deliver personalized health insights. The position is critical for guiding the technical direction across multiple AI products, solving complex system-level problems, and mentoring senior engineers.
3. Responsibilities:
Design and build core AI system architecture across multiple product areas ensuring consistency and reuse.
Establish organizational technical standards including evaluation frameworks, testing practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
Proactively identify and address systemic engineering challenges.
Lead resolution of complex, ambiguous technical problems end-to-end.
Develop and deploy conversational agents, deep learning, and personalization models requiring innovative approaches.
Enhance AI/ML systems to support sustained metabolic health improvements.
Provide technical leadership through code and design reviews without direct managerial duties.
Collaborate with product, engineering leadership, and clinical/research teams to translate goals into technical solutions.
Perform other assigned duties.
4. Requirements:
Minimum 8 years of industry experience in AI and Machine Learning system development with leadership in cross-team technical initiatives.
Strong software engineering fundamentals including testing, CI/CD, system design, and code review.
Experience in setting technical direction and engineering standards at an organizational level.
Expertise with LLM-based systems, Generative AI, Prompt Engineering, RAG, and iterative AI evaluations.
Proven mentoring skills and influence on technical decisions beyond individual projects.
Experience with Voice AI or specialized Language Models is a plus.
Proficient in Python and established software engineering best practices.
Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship available.
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
The compensation range for this position is $250,000-$265,000 annually.
