Engineering Manager, Transfer Explorer

2. About the Opportunity:
The Engineering Manager, Transfer Explorer leads the technical development and management of the Transfer Explorer platform. This role ensures the platform effectively supports students, school administrators, and advisors by simplifying credit transfer evaluations between institutions. The Engineering Manager drives the engineering team’s productivity and plays a key role in scaling the platform toward sustainable impact.
3. Responsibilities:
Manage and mentor a growing team of engineers, overseeing goal setting, performance, and recruitment
Foster collaboration with designers, researchers, and product managers to meet team goals
Lead technical development of a scalable, secure, and user-friendly Transfer Explorer platform
Manage relationships with technical vendors and partners, including contract and deliverable oversight
Participate in leadership activities such as business planning, roadmapping, grant management, and partnership development
4. Requirements:
Over 10 years of experience developing and managing web-based software applications, including cloud environments like AWS
At least 3 years managing and developing software engineering teams
Proven ability to deliver innovative and feasible technology solutions
Experience scaling prototypes to sustainable infrastructures with appropriate resilience
Familiarity with agile methods such as lean startup and design thinking
Experience architecting software systems involving multiple components and data pipelines
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Preferred:
Experience with higher education data systems, including student information and transfer articulation systems
Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
Starting salary range: $138,000 to $173,000 per year, depending on knowledge, skills, and experience
