Role Description This remote Product Design Intern role is an internship position focused on supporting the design and improvement of digital products for rural users. Day-to-day tasks include assisting with user research activities, synthesizing findings, and helping create user flows, wireframes, and visual concepts. The intern will collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to apply design thinking and ensure solutions are intuitive, accessible, and aligned with user needs. Responsibilities also include preparing design documentation, iterating on feedback from stakeholders and users, and contributing to prototype testing. The role offers exposure to real-world product design challenges in the context of e-commerce and rural technology adoption.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Product Design and Design Thinking, with the ability to structure problems and propose user-centered solutions.
Skills in User Research and UX Research, including gathering insights, analyzing user behavior, and translating findings into design decisions.
Proficiency in Visual Design, with an eye for layout, typography, color, and consistency across digital interfaces.
Familiarity with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD or similar) and basic understanding of responsive web or app design.
Ability to communicate design concepts clearly, collaborate in a remote team environment, and accept and integrate feedback constructively.
Interest in social impact, rural development, or inclusive technology; prior coursework or projects in UX/UI, HCI, or related fields is beneficial.
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a program in Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
