About The Role
The Boeing Company is seeking an experienced or senior Application Software Engineer to join the Phantom Works Open Architecture Systems Integrated Software (OASIS) Solutions team based in Berkeley, Missouri. This role is integral to supporting Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization. As part of this innovative team, you will contribute to developing advanced software solutions that support critical defense and aerospace applications. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software systems that meet stringent industry, safety, and regulatory standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that push the boundaries of aerospace technology, autonomy, and emerging defense capabilities.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, data science, physics, or related fields, with extensive experience in software development. Candidates must hold an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret and Special Program Access. A minimum of three years of professional experience in C++, C#, Linux development, and version control systems such as Git is required. Strong knowledge of software architecture, open architectures, network communication protocols (TCP/UDP), and software development processes in compliance with industry standards is essential. Preferred qualifications include five or more years of relevant experience, familiarity with host environments, and expertise in software testing, validation, and verification practices. Experience with domain-specific products such as aerospace systems, ground support, or data processing is advantageous.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software throughout the entire lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry, safety, and regulatory standards.
Translate customer requirements into initial software design concepts, developing clear interface definitions to facilitate integration.
Perform unit testing and integration testing to validate software functionality and robustness.
Participate in peer reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
Support system integration and testing activities, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing software performance.
Create comprehensive software documentation to support future maintenance and upgrades.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions and incorporate emerging technologies into projects.
Stay current with technological advancements and continuously improve software development processes.
