About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders, including product teams, business partners, and cybersecurity personnel, to identify and clarify requirements for data-driven features and products. You will be responsible for understanding the entire data ecosystem, including security, privacy, and retention policies, to support critical business and product functionalities. Your expertise will be vital in creating and documenting technical designs for system components, identifying architecture, tools, storage needs, and presenting innovative technical solutions to your peers. Staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies, such as Generative AI tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, will be essential to support ongoing innovation and ensure the safety and security of our data products.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2+ years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience without a degree. Preferred candidates will have over 4 years of specialized experience in data engineering, including designing and documenting technical components for data pipelines and products. Experience in presenting technical solutions clearly to peers, collaborating across cross-functional teams, and applying coding standards and security requirements is essential. Candidates should have a proven track record in implementing code, conducting unit and user acceptance testing, and building automation tools for data processes. Strong skills in creating queries, data extraction, transformation techniques, troubleshooting pipeline issues, and supporting software upgrades and security patches are highly valued. Staying informed about industry trends and applying this knowledge to foster innovation is also crucial. Mentoring peers and participating actively in code reviews will be expected from experienced professionals.
Responsibilities
Your core responsibilities will include collaborating proactively with stakeholders to clarify requirements and identify key product stakeholders. You will review technical specifications, escalate potential design issues, and develop detailed component designs and documentation. Implementing high-quality code, applying best practices, and ensuring adherence to security protocols will be central to your role. You will participate in code reviews, incorporate feedback, and take ownership of data products or pipeline components. Conducting unit testing, security scans, and participating in user acceptance testing will be part of your routine. Building tools and automation processes to transform, manage, and monitor data will be vital for operational efficiency. You will create queries to extract and compile raw data, implement orchestration techniques, and validate data quality to ensure integrity. Ensuring compliance with data governance, management principles, and performance monitoring protocols is essential. Troubleshooting pipeline issues, supporting software upgrades, and addressing routine client requests will also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring seamless data operations and security compliance.
