Role Description This is a remote volunteer role for a Django Developer. The Django Developer will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of web applications that support Outcome School’s learning pathways and workforce development initiatives. Day-to-day tasks may include implementing backend features in Django, integrating databases, building and refining APIs, and collaborating with front-end developers to deliver user-friendly interfaces. The role also involves writing clean, testable code, reviewing contributions from other volunteers, and participating in planning discussions to ensure the platform remains scalable, secure, and aligned with learner and employer needs.
Qualifications
Strong Back-End Web Development skills, including Django and RESTful API design.
Solid Software Development skills with experience in Python, version control (e.g., Git), and testing practices.
Foundational Front-End Development skills, such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, to collaborate effectively across the stack.
Proficient Programming skills with an understanding of clean code principles, debugging, and performance optimization.
Experience working with Databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQLite), including schema design and query optimization.
Background in building or maintaining web applications in an educational or social impact context is beneficial.
Ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment, communicate clearly, and provide mentorship or guidance to emerging developers.
Relevant education or equivalent practical experience in computer science, software engineering, or related fields.
