Role Description This is a volunteer, remote role for a Robotics Specialist at Outcome School. The Robotics Specialist will support learners in developing robotics and automation projects, including designing, building, and testing robotic systems and components. Day-to-day tasks include guiding learners through hands-on labs, explaining core concepts in robotics and mechatronics, reviewing project work, and providing feedback that strengthens both technical and problem-solving skills. The role also involves collaborating with other volunteers to refine curriculum materials, ensuring they align with industry expectations and are accessible to underserved youth. The Robotics Specialist will help connect learning activities to real-world applications and workforce opportunities in robotics and automation.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in robotics and robot systems, with the ability to explain concepts clearly to learners.
Experience with automation and process automation, including real-world applications in industry or education.
Knowledge of mechatronics and integrated electro-mechanical systems relevant to robotics projects.
Ability to design, build, and troubleshoot basic robotic and automation projects in a learning environment.
Prior teaching, mentoring, or technical training experience, especially with youth or underserved communities, is beneficial.
Comfort with remote collaboration tools and online learning platforms.
Strong communication, patience, and a learner-centered approach to instruction.
Relevant academic background or industry experience in robotics, engineering, computer science, or a related field is preferred.
