Role Description The Lead Human Resources Director is a full-time, remote role responsible for overseeing all HR functions and supporting a mission-driven, distributed team. This role will design and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs that align with nonprofit best practices and the organization’s values. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing employee relations, guiding performance management processes, and supporting managers with coaching and feedback frameworks. The Lead Human Resources Director will ensure compliance with labor and employment law, oversee talent acquisition and onboarding, and maintain equitable and inclusive HR practices. The role will also collaborate with senior leadership on organizational development, workforce planning, and initiatives that enhance employee engagement, retention, and professional growth.
Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise in Human Resources (HR) operations, including strategic HR leadership and HR administration.
Strong knowledge of HR Policies and experience designing, implementing, and updating people-focused policies and procedures.
Proven ability in Employee Relations, including conflict resolution, coaching, and fostering a positive, inclusive work culture.
Experience with Performance Management processes, including goal-setting, evaluations, and development plans.
Solid understanding of Labor and Employment Law and experience ensuring compliance across relevant jurisdictions.
Experience in managing HR in remote or distributed teams, ideally within nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and cultures.
Strong organizational and analytical skills, with experience using HR systems and data to inform decisions.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field; advanced certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) are beneficial.
Base salary: $145,000–$175,000, commensurate with experience, plus a competitive annual performance bonus
