About The Role
The Specialist, Software Engineering (AWS Cloud) role is a vital position within the GGSS Cloud team at L3Harris Technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and enhancing our cloud-based systems primarily utilizing Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role involves working with modern cloud architectures, including Kubernetes-based environments, to support our mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, cloud infrastructure, and security best practices. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless deployment, monitoring, and optimization of cloud services, contributing to the company's goal of delivering innovative, reliable, and secure technology solutions for defense and government clients.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of four years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree with at least two years of experience. Alternatively, candidates with eight or more years of experience without a degree are also considered. Proven expertise in developing and deploying containerized applications using Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, or similar tools is essential. Experience working within Linux environments, including scripting, configuration, and software deployment, is required. Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar is also necessary. Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Associate are highly preferred. A successful candidate must also be able to obtain a High-Risk NOAA Public Trust clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
Responsibilities
Monitor and implement updates from AWS and third-party vendors to ensure system security and performance.
Maintain and enhance Kubernetes-based cloud architecture to support scalable and resilient applications.
Develop, support, and troubleshoot cloud applications using programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
Support Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions, including single sign-on, Active Directory, or Keycloak, to ensure secure access controls.
Assist in migrating existing applications to the cloud environment, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for developers, administrators, and operators to facilitate ongoing system management.
Ensure consistency across system configurations by applying version tagging, naming schemes, and configuration standards.
Leverage networking principles and security best practices within the AWS cloud environment to ensure system integrity and compliance.
Design, develop, and modify software to add new features or improve existing functionalities.
Collaborate with team members to implement best practices in cloud security, deployment, and monitoring.
