The Qualifications We Seek
3 to 5 years of recent Conventional Mortgage Underwriting experience
Experience working with a U.S. company within the last 6 months
Thorough understanding of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines
Experience reviewing appraisals and collateral
Strong experience underwriting self-employed borrowers
Experience using DU, LP/LPA, CU, and Encompass
Ability to independently evaluate and defend underwriting decisions
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Your Daily Tasks
Review and underwrite conventional mortgage loans from submission through final approval
Approve, decline, suspend, or counter-offer loans based on underwriting findings
Sign off loan conditions before funding
Evaluate borrower creditworthiness, income stability, assets, and collateral
Analyze self-employed borrower income, including business tax returns and cash-flow analysis
Review and interpret S-Corporation financials and Schedule K-1s
Evaluate rental income, boarder income, and property-income scenarios
Perform detailed appraisal and collateral reviews, including Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) properties
Provide underwriting support to production, funding, and account management teams
Respond to Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), and post-closing audit findings
Maintain required Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and turnaround times
