Role Description As a Backend Intern at CosmoQuick, you will support the development and maintenance of server-side features that power our job marketplace platform. On a typical day, you will assist in implementing APIs, optimizing database queries, and troubleshooting issues to improve performance and reliability. You will collaborate with senior engineers to review code, write unit tests, and document technical solutions, while following best practices for security and scalability. You will also work closely with product and frontend teams to integrate new features and ensure smooth data flow across the platform. This is a remote internship role, offering hands-on experience in backend development within a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Qualifications
Foundation in backend programming (e.g., experience with at least one server-side language such as Python, JavaScript/Node.js, Java, or similar).
Basic understanding of databases and data modeling (SQL or NoSQL, querying, schema design).
Familiarity with RESTful APIs or similar web service concepts and how backend services integrate with frontends.
Knowledge of version control tools (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
Ability to read technical documentation, research solutions, and write clear code comments and basic technical documentation.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn from feedback.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree or coursework in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Nice to have: exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), basic understanding of security best practices, or interest in scalable marketplace systems.
