Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Design Engineer_RMPU_HVAC role based in Chennai. The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing HVAC-related components and systems for electrical enclosure and related product families, ensuring alignment with mechanical and electrical standards. Daily tasks include preparing and updating CAD models and drawings, performing design calculations, and collaborating with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to refine product design. The role involves reviewing specifications, coordinating with production and quality teams, and supporting prototype development and testing to ensure performance, safety, and manufacturability. The Design Engineer will also assist in documentation, continuous design improvement, and compliance with relevant industry codes and regulations.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Design Engineering and Product Design, with the ability to translate requirements into practical, manufacturable solutions.
Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering principles, including materials, structural considerations, and thermal behavior relevant to HVAC and enclosure systems.
Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 2D drafting and 3D modeling, and experience generating detailed engineering drawings.
Understanding of Electrical Engineering concepts related to switchgear, wiring, and electrical enclosures, and their integration with mechanical designs.
Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification).
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and procurement.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and quality standards.
Effective communication skills and the ability to document designs, reports, and technical specifications clearly.
Familiarity with HVAC systems in rail/industrial or similar applications, and knowledge of relevant standards, is an advantage.
