Position Overview
The UI/UX Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and driving the successful delivery of UI/UX projects across the organization’s digital platforms and products.
This role manages the design lifecycle—from discovery, user research, and wireframes through visual design, prototyping, testing, and development handoff—ensuring projects remain organized, on schedule, and aligned with product and organizational goals.
Working closely with UI/UX designers, product stakeholders, and engineering teams, the UI/UX Project Manager serves as the primary coordination point for design initiatives, helping translate priorities into clear project plans, deliverables, timelines, and accountable next steps.

Key Responsibilities
UI/UX Project Planning & Execution
Plan and manage UI/UX projects from concept through development handoff.
Define project scope, timelines, milestones, deliverables, and responsibilities.
Translate UI/UX priorities into actionable project plans and tasks.
Monitor progress and drive projects toward successful completion.
UI/UX Workflow Management
Coordinate the end-to-end design process, including
Discovery and user research
User flows and information architecture
Wireframing
UI design
Prototyping
Usability testing
Design review and approval
Engineering handoff
Help establish consistent and scalable UI/UX workflows.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Serve as a key liaison between UI/UX, product, and engineering teams.
Facilitate communication and alignment across project contributors.
Ensure UI/UX requirements align with product objectives and technical feasibility.
Coordinate feedback, decisions, approvals, and next steps.
Timeline & Dependency Management
Develop and maintain project schedules.
Identify dependencies between UI/UX and development work.
Coordinate design delivery with engineering timelines and sprint schedules.
Proactively identify and address delays, bottlenecks, and competing priorities.
Task Tracking & Accountability
Track UI/UX tasks, milestones, deliverables, and outstanding decisions.
Establish clear ownership and deadlines.
Follow up on action items and maintain visibility into project status.
Help keep contributors aligned and accountable to commitments.
Design Handoff & Development Readiness
Coordinate UI/UX handoff to engineering.
Ensure designs, prototypes, specifications, assets, and supporting documentation are complete and accessible.
Help resolve questions between designers and developers during implementation.
Track design-related issues through development and launch.
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
Provide clear updates on project status, milestones, risks, dependencies, and upcoming priorities.
Facilitate UI/UX project meetings and working sessions.
Document decisions and action items.
Escalate issues requiring leadership or stakeholder decisions.
Quality & Design Consistency
Help ensure deliverables follow established UI/UX standards and product requirements.
Coordinate design reviews and feedback cycles.
Support consistency across screens, workflows, components, and digital experiences.
Partner with UI/UX leadership to support design quality.
Risk & Issue Management
Identify project risks, blockers, resource constraints, and dependencies.
Develop mitigation plans and coordinate resolution.
Escalate issues when necessary to keep projects moving forward.
Resource & Capacity Coordination
Support allocation of UI/UX resources across projects.
Monitor workloads, priorities, and competing deadlines.
Help leadership identify capacity constraints and resource needs.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
Maintain UI/UX project plans, workflows, meeting notes, decisions, and documentation.
Ensure project information is organized and accessible.
Support documentation of UI/UX standards, processes, and best practices.
Continuous Improvement & Design Operations
Identify opportunities to improve UI/UX project delivery.
Help streamline collaboration between design, product, and engineering.
Introduce project management and design-operations best practices that improve efficiency, visibility, and consistency.
Volunteer Commitment
Estimated Commitment 10–15 hours per week
Schedule Flexible, with availability for cross-functional collaboration
Participation Regular attendance at relevant project, UI/UX, and team meetings
Environment Remote and collaborative
Minimum Qualifications
2–4 years of experience in project management, UI/UX project coordination, digital product development, or a related field.
Experience coordinating projects involving designers and cross-functional teams.
Strong project planning, organization, communication, and follow-through skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, dependencies, and stakeholders.
Comfortable working in a collaborative and evolving environment.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting UI/UX, product design, web, mobile, or digital product projects.
Understanding of UI/UX processes, including research, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, and design handoff.
Familiarity with Figma and collaborative design workflows.
Experience with project management tools such as Asana, Jira, Monday.com, ClickUp, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or iterative product-development environments.
Experience working with remote or distributed teams.

The successful UI/UX Project Manager will bring structure, visibility, and momentum to the design process. UI/UX projects will have clear owners, timelines, deliverables, and priorities; designers and developers will remain aligned; blockers will be addressed early; and design work will be ready when engineering needs it.
