We are seeking an experienced Inpatient Coding Auditor to support coding quality initiatives, auditing, education, and compliance efforts within a leading healthcare organization. This role is ideal for a coding professional who enjoys mentoring others, improving coding accuracy, and serving as a subject matter expert in inpatient coding.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Perform inpatient coding audits to evaluate:
ICD-10-CM/PCS code assignment
MS-DRG assignment
POA indicators
Regulatory compliance
✅ Identify coding trends, risks, and educational opportunities
✅ Provide audit feedback, coaching, and coding education to coding staff
✅ Partner with Coding Leadership, CDI, Compliance, Revenue Cycle, and Billing teams
✅ Support coding quality initiatives, workflow optimization, and regulatory readiness
✅ Serve as a coding subject matter expert for complex coding and compliance questions
✅ Assist in onboarding, training, and mentoring coding team members
Required Qualifications
✔ Minimum 3 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care hospital setting
✔ Experience with:
ICD-10-CM
ICD-10-PCS
MS-DRG assignment
Coding compliance and quality review
✔ Associate Degree in Health Information Management or equivalent combination of education and experience
✔ One of the following certifications:
RHIA
RHIT
CCS
CCS-P
CIC
COC
CPC
Preferred Qualifications
⭐ 5+ years of inpatient coding experience
⭐ Previous coding audit experience
⭐ Coding education, mentoring, or training experience
⭐ Academic Medical Center experience
⭐ Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management
⭐ RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification
