How long is a ten minute rest break? Ten minutes, you’d think.
Except the break room is at the other end of a warehouse the size of four football fields. There’s a microwave, one, and a queue of five people in front of it, and the person at the front is reheating a lasagne that clearly needs another two minutes. By the time anyone has sat down it’s minute seven. Three years later a lawyer is asking a shift supervisor, under oath, whether the walk counts.
You’d be that lawyer, more or less, along with the discrimination, retaliation and harassment claims that make up the rest of the week.

Wage and hour class actions in state and federal court
Single plaintiff discrimination, retaliation and harassment cases
Advising employers on California rules before anyone sues
Depositions of supervisors who weren’t expecting to be asked about microwaves
It’s $230,000 to $300,000, fully remote, and you need to live in California. Los Angeles and Oakland are the offices if you ever fancy a desk.

Good academics and the California Bar
