About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Employment Advice and Investigations Associate | Fully Remote, Los Angeles | $260,000 to $390,000
Every workplace investigation comes down to a meeting nobody wrote up. A Thursday, about three o’clock, in the small room with the broken blind.
Four people were in it. One remembers raised voices. One remembers a joke that went wrong. One remembers mainly the blind, which has been broken since March and is the one thing all four agree on. The fourth wasn’t in the meeting at all, it turns out, but has the strongest view of what was said.
Somebody has to interview all four, write it up so it stands up later, and tell the employer what probably happened and what to do next. This is a Los Angeles seat doing exactly that, paying $260,000 to $390,000, three to five years in, fully remote.
The other half of the job is advice. Leave laws, California wage and hour rules, discrimination and retaliation questions, the termination that needs to happen and needs to happen carefully. It’s a national employment practice that’s growing on the West Coast, and they want somebody with a bit of ambition about where they take it.
The job:
Running workplace investigations, interviews to final report
Advising HR teams on leave, accommodation and wage and hour
Discrimination, harassment and retaliation questions before they turn into claims
You’ll need:
3 to 5 years acting for employers
A JD, the California Bar and writing people enjoy reading
Next Steps:
Your day probably belongs to other people. Judges, clients, a billing system that wants six minutes of your life accounted for. So pick a time that suits you rather than one that suits me: https://calendly.com/arranjaiswal/15min
I’m on Pacific time from 6am and I don’t mind weekends.
If you’d rather just talk, ring me on 646 540 9647. I’m Arran Jaiswal at Distinct North America, and there are 100 plus recommendations at the bottom of my LinkedIn page if you want to see who you’re dealing with first.
