About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team at Tata Consultancy Services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation testing, with expertise in API testing, Selenium, and Java. This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products through comprehensive automation strategies. The Automation Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA analysts, and project managers, to design, develop, and execute automated test scripts that align with project requirements and quality standards. Located in cities such as Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, Indore, or Trivandrum, this position offers an excellent opportunity to work on innovative projects within a global technology leader.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 6-10 years of experience in automation testing and software quality assurance. Proficiency in Java programming language is essential, along with hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver for web automation. Knowledge of API testing tools such as Postman and Rest Assured, along with experience in testing REST, SOAP, and GraphQL APIs, is required. Familiarity with version control systems like GIT and GITLAB, as well as continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, is necessary. Candidates should have a solid understanding of full system development life cycles, testing methodologies, and quality assurance practices. Additional skills in writing detailed test plans, test cases, and structured testing approaches are expected. Knowledge of accessibility testing (A11Y) is a plus, as is experience in setting up CI/CD environments and working with DevOps tools.
Responsibilities
The Automation Engineer will be responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts to ensure the quality of software applications. Key responsibilities include:
Designing and implementing automation test frameworks using Java, Selenium, and related tools.
Participating in solution design discussions and providing technical insights to optimize testing strategies.
Performing unit testing using JUnit and TestNG, ensuring comprehensive test coverage at the API level, aiming for at least 90% coverage.
Developing functional test scripts and automating them to streamline testing processes.
Debugging issues, analyzing defects, and collaborating with development teams for resolution.
Following Agile methodologies, actively participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Creating detailed test plans, test cases, and use cases, and executing structured testing methodologies.
Optional: Setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines, integrating DevOps tools for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
Providing feedback and recommendations based on testing insights, and incorporating feedback into iterative development cycles.
