About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Linux Engineer to join our dynamic team, supporting enterprise-level Linux infrastructure across Pan India. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in Linux system deployment, configuration, and support, with expertise in various Linux OS platforms including NixOS, RHEL, GUIX, and other immutable operating systems. This role involves deploying and managing Linux-based networking and security services, implementing firewall solutions using nftables and other stateful firewall technologies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the stability, security, and performance of our Linux environments. The Linux Engineer will also be responsible for troubleshooting complex issues, maintaining security hardening standards, and supporting automation and scripting initiatives to streamline operations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in Linux administration and engineering, with a proven track record working in enterprise and data center environments. Strong knowledge of Linux networking, security, and firewall technologies is essential. Relevant certifications such as RHCE, RHCSA, LFCS, LFCE, or CKA are preferred. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, SaltStack), and scripting languages (Python, Bash) will be advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills, experience with enterprise firewall platforms (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point), and a good understanding of change management processes aligned with ITIL standards.
Responsibilities
Deploy, configure, and support enterprise Linux servers across production and non-production environments.
Implement and manage Linux operating systems, including NixOS, RHEL, GUIX, and other immutable OS platforms, ensuring optimal performance and security.
Configure Linux networking components such as Layer 2 networking, routing, VLANs, and security zoning to meet organizational requirements.
Deploy and maintain Linux-based networking and security services, including firewall configurations using nftables and other firewall technologies.
Support the deployment and integration of enterprise firewall platforms such as Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Check Point, ensuring seamless security posture.
Implement Linux security controls, host hardening, network segmentation, and troubleshoot security-related issues to maintain compliance and security standards.
Configure and support Cilium for Kubernetes networking and security, where applicable, to facilitate containerized workloads.
Deploy and maintain intrusion detection and prevention systems like Suricata IDS/IPS and Zeek for comprehensive network monitoring.
Perform system upgrades, patching, migrations, and other implementation activities to ensure systems are current and secure.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to operating systems, networking, firewalls, and security controls.
Collaborate effectively with Network, Security, Cloud, and Infrastructure teams during project delivery and operational activities.
Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, implementation guides, and operational procedures for ongoing support and audits.
Participate in change management activities, supporting deployments during maintenance windows with minimal service disruption.
Ensure all Linux environments are compliant with organizational security policies and operational standards, maintaining high levels of security and performance.
