About Tachyra
Tachyra Diagnostics is building a physician-supervised AI clinical decision support platform. Ahead of a patient visit, the platform reviews a patient's full history, medications, and longitudinal data — surfacing a ranked differential diagnosis, full medication-interaction checking, personalized baseline trending, and a direct comparison of treatment effectiveness options tailored to that patient. The physician reviews, edits, and approves every recommendation; the platform never diagnoses, prescribes, or acts independently.
We're an early-stage company assembling our founding leadership team ahead of a near-term capital raise. This is a ground-floor opportunity to build the legal and compliance function of a healthcare AI company from scratch.
The Role
As Vice President & Chief Legal Officer, you will own Tachyra's legal strategy and compliance program end to end — serving as the Company's primary legal decision-maker and the executive team's go-to counsel on every legal question that touches the product, the company, and its fundraising. You will report directly to the CEO and sit on the founding executive team.
What You'll Own
HIPAA & Data Privacy
Serve as the Company's subject-matter authority on HIPAA compliance, including our obligations as a Business Associate to every contracted physician practice we serve
Own the Business Associate Agreement (BAA) process — with contracted practices, cloud hosting providers, and AI/model providers — ensuring PHI only ever touches BAA-covered infrastructure
Build and maintain the Company's HIPAA Security Rule compliance program: risk assessments, access controls, encryption standards, breach notification procedures, and incident response planning
Track and advise on state consumer privacy laws layered on top of HIPAA (e.g., new state privacy statutes, California's CCPA automated decision-making rules) as they apply to an AI clinical platform
Healthcare & AI Regulatory Compliance
Own continuous state-by-state tracking of AI-in-healthcare legislation — a genuinely fast-moving landscape (dozens of states introduce or enact new AI-healthcare law every year) — and translate it into practical guidance for product and go-to-market decisions
Advise on Corporate Practice of Medicine (CPOM) considerations in our contracting and pricing structures
Support FDA Clinical Decision Support / Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) classification strategy, including pre-submission engagement as the product and regulatory landscape evolve
Advise on malpractice and product liability exposure and help structure Company insurance and contractual liability allocation accordingly
Corporate & Commercial
Draft, review, and negotiate customer contracts (physician and practice licensing agreements, enterprise/health-system agreements), vendor agreements, and strategic partnership agreements
Manage employment agreements, equity documentation, and other corporate governance matters
Coordinate and manage outside specialty counsel (securities, IP, employment, healthcare regulatory) where deep subject-matter expertise beyond in-house capacity is needed
Support the Company's near-term capital raise and future financing rounds from a legal and diligence-readiness standpoint
What We're Looking For
J.D. and active bar admission, with substantial experience in healthcare law, digital health, or health-tech regulatory compliance
Deep, hands-on HIPAA and healthcare privacy law expertise — this is not a generalist compliance role
Familiarity with the CDS/SaMD regulatory landscape and FDA engagement processes a strong plus
Experience advising an early-stage or high-growth company — comfortable building a legal function from the ground up, not just operating within an established one
Sound judgment on when to handle a matter directly versus bringing in outside specialty counsel
Comfortable in a fast-moving, resource-constrained startup environment where responsibilities evolve as the Company grows
Compensation
As a founding executive hire, compensation is structured as below-market cash salary plus a deferred salary component payable upon a future financing milestone, plus a meaningful equity grant with standard 4-year vesting and a 1-year cliff — aligning your outcome directly with the Company's. Specific terms provided upon offer.
