Job Description
Esmera Global Solutions is seeking an experienced Database Administrator for a project-based international assignment. The role is responsible for the administration, availability, performance, security and integrity of enterprise database environments supporting data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will install, configure and upgrade enterprise database systems and perform database backup, recovery and disaster-recovery planning and execution.
The role includes configuring and managing high-availability solutions such as clustering, replication, log shipping and failover mechanisms, monitoring database performance, identifying bottlenecks and performing tuning.
The Database Administrator will apply database security hardening, support patch-management activities, provide day-to-day database administration and operational support including on-call support where required, and manage user access controls, roles and permissions.
The candidate will create and maintain automation scripts for routine monitoring and maintenance and maintain accurate database configuration and operational documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline and have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, preferably supporting enterprise or mission-critical systems.
Strong hands-on experience with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server administration and experience with High Availability and Disaster Recovery configurations are required.
Working knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments is expected, together with strong troubleshooting capability and the ability to work effectively during critical incidents.
Experience within banking, oil and gas or another regulated industry would be advantageous.
