Job Description
Esmera Global Solutions is seeking an experienced Data Technical Writer for a project-based assignment. The role produces clear, accurate and controlled technical documentation covering data systems, architecture, processes and requirements for technical and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will develop and maintain technical documentation including System Design Documents, System or Software Requirements Specifications and Entity Relationship Diagrams, and document data-pipeline architecture, data flows, data dictionaries and system-integration specifications.
The role includes working with technical specialists and business stakeholders to gather accurate source information and translating complex technical concepts into clear and structured documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
The candidate will maintain document version control, ensure documentation remains current, support user guides, Standard Operating Procedures and training materials, assist with requirements-gathering sessions and document outcomes and decisions.
The position also supports documentation compliance with governance and audit requirements and includes reviewing and editing technical content for clarity, consistency and accuracy.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Communications or a related discipline and have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Technical Writing, Systems Documentation or Business/Systems Analysis.
Proven ability to produce SDDs, SRSs, ERDs and related system documentation is required, together with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
Candidates should have a basic understanding of Data Engineering, databases or software-development concepts, experience with requirements gathering and process or data visualisation techniques, high attention to detail and strong document-management discipline.
Experience within energy, banking or another large enterprise IT environment would be advantageous.
Relevant Technologies and Tools
Microsoft Word, Confluence, Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, SharePoint, Jira, Power BI, Draw.io, Adobe Acrobat and basic SQL.
