Job Description
Esmera Global Solutions is seeking an experienced Data Programmer for a project-based assignment. The Data Programmer will develop and maintain data-centric scripts, applications, integrations and automation solutions supporting data processing, data quality and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will develop and maintain custom scripts and programs for data cleansing, standardisation, matching and transformation, and design and implement integrations connecting systems, applications and databases.
The role includes building and maintaining APIs and backend services supporting data exchange and developing automation solutions for data-quality checks, monitoring and reporting.
The Data Programmer will support data-driven dashboards and reporting systems, troubleshoot data-processing errors, performance bottlenecks and integration issues, and participate in code reviews while maintaining coding standards and technical documentation.
The candidate will collaborate with Data Engineers, Analysts and System Administrators on end-to-end data solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline and have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Data Programming, Software Development, Data Integration or a similar role.
Strong programming capability in Python, SQL and/or NodeJS/JavaScript is required, together with experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and API development and familiarity with BI and data-visualisation platforms.
Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP is highly desirable.
Experience with parallel or data-processing frameworks such as DuckDB, Polars or Spark would be advantageous. Strong logical thinking, debugging and problem-solving skills are required. Experience within energy, banking or another large enterprise environment would be advantageous.

Python, Polars, DuckDB, Pandas, T-SQL, PL-SQL, NodeJS, JavaScript, REST APIs, Power BI, Grafana, Denodo, Elasticsearch, Great Expectations, Apache Spark, Git and Jira.
