About The Role
The Senior Lead AI Engineer will play a pivotal role within the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team, spearheading the development and deployment of advanced AI systems that revolutionize how Capital One serves its customers and supports its internal teams. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineers, research scientists, product managers, and technical program managers to build scalable, responsible, and high-performance AI solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting AI software components such as foundation models, large language models, similarity search algorithms, and governance frameworks. They will also contribute to shaping the technical vision and long-term roadmap of AI systems at Capital One, employing state-of-the-art techniques and leveraging open-source and SaaS AI technologies to optimize performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, or related fields plus at least 6 years of experience in AI/ML development, or Master’s degree plus at least 4 years of relevant experience
Minimum of 6 years programming experience in Python, Go, Scala, or Java
Experience deploying scalable AI solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders
Strong foundation in AI/ML algorithms, hardware optimization, and mathematical principles
Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly
Demonstrated experience in developing and integrating advanced AI techniques such as LLM inference, similarity search, vector databases, and guardrails
Responsibilities
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver AI-powered products that enhance customer interactions and operational efficiency
Design, develop, test, and deploy AI software components, including foundation models, large language models, and observability tools
Leverage open-source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, Nemo Guardrails, and PyTorch to build scalable solutions
Invent and implement optimization techniques to improve the performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency of large-scale AI systems
Contribute to the technical vision and strategic roadmap of AI infrastructure at Capital One
Ensure AI solutions adhere to responsible AI principles, including governance, fairness, and transparency
Stay updated with the latest research and advancements in AI/ML, applying innovative techniques in production environments
