Backed by prominent investors such as General Catalyst, Index Ventures, Adams Street, Aleph, and Entreé Capital, we have raised over $160 million, including a $72 million Series C funding round, to scale our operations and deepen our mission-driven work.
About The Role
We are seeking a talented and strategic Social Media Manager to take ownership of Empathy’s social media presence on a contract basis. This role involves developing and executing a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with our brand vision, campaigns, product launches, and category positioning. The ideal candidate will be responsible for crafting social-first storytelling that resonates with two distinct audiences: our end-users—families and individuals navigating difficult life moments—and our B2B partners, including life insurers, wealth management firms, benefits leaders, HR teams, insurance agents, and advisors.
This role requires a hands-on approach, with a focus on building brand resonance and community engagement primarily through LinkedIn and Instagram, while remaining adaptable to other platforms. The Social Media Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams such as Growth, Brand Design, Product Marketing, and Communications. The candidate should be adept at balancing emotional intelligence with strategic thinking, leveraging AI tools for content creation, and staying ahead of social media trends to ensure our messaging remains relevant and impactful.

Proven track record of growing and engaging social media audiences through data-driven strategies
Exceptional writing skills with a strong creative vision and storytelling ability
Deep expertise in LinkedIn (B2B thought leadership and amplification) and Instagram, with familiarity extending to TikTok, YouTube, or X
Strong brand instincts and emotional intelligence to handle sensitive subject matter responsibly
Ability to translate complex or regulated topics into clear, trustworthy content
Understanding of B2B personas and how to make a brand relevant to business buyers
Proficiency with AI tools for content ideation, production, and workflow optimization
Analytical skills with the ability to interpret social metrics and turn insights into creative decisions
Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Availability to work east coast hours
Bonus: Experience in health tech, insurance, benefits, fintech, or other trust-sensitive B2B2C categories
Responsibilities
Own and execute Empathy’s organic social media strategy across platforms, primarily focusing on LinkedIn and Instagram
Build and nurture engaged audiences representing both consumer families and B2B partners

Drive thought leadership initiatives and amplify messages through executive and employee advocacy on LinkedIn to influence B2B decision-makers
Set measurable goals, monitor engagement and audience growth, and analyze performance data to inform creative and strategic decisions
Implement a continuous testing approach, experimenting with hooks, formats, timing, and messaging angles, and report on results
Maintain and steward Empathy’s brand voice with sensitivity, empathy, and emotional intelligence, especially given the sensitive nature of our work
Leverage AI tools to accelerate content ideation, production, and iteration without compromising quality or trust
Stay informed about platform trends, algorithm changes, and emerging formats, introducing innovative ideas to enhance social presence
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to execute creative concepts aligned with brand and campaign objectives
