About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Android Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our mobile applications, from design and development to deployment and maintenance. Mobile technology is at the core of our platform, as real estate agents rely heavily on Perchwell while on the go to search listings, collaborate with clients, and close deals efficiently. As part of a small, collaborative team, you will work closely with cross-functional partners including product managers and backend developers to shape our mobile architecture, establish coding standards, and implement innovative features. This position offers flexibility for remote work, with a requirement for NYC-based candidates to work from our Soho Manhattan headquarters at least three days per week, including mandatory in-office Mondays. Your contributions will directly impact thousands of real estate professionals, helping them operate more effectively through a reliable, scalable, and user-centric mobile experience.
Qualifications
4-6 years of professional Android development experience
Strong proficiency in Kotlin and the modern Android ecosystem (Jetpack, Compose, Coroutines, dependency injection, etc.)
Proven track record of owning and delivering features from conception through release
Solid understanding of mobile reliability and scalability best practices
Experience contributing to technical direction, including defining standards and architectural decisions
Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating technical tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders
Strong collaboration skills with backend and product teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
Passion for ownership, continuous improvement, and iterative development
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality Android applications
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define features and technical specifications
Implement modern Android architecture, including modular design and dependency management
Identify and resolve bugs and performance issues to ensure app stability and scalability
Participate in architectural decisions and contribute to setting technical standards
Work closely with backend teams to design robust API integrations and client-server contracts
Implement continuous integration and automated testing to improve development efficiency
Maintain documentation of technical solutions, standards, and best practices
Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate innovative solutions into the development process
Mentor junior team members and promote a culture of quality and ownership
