Role Description The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain scalable software systems that power Future of Nation’s learning and mentoring platform. In this full-time hybrid role based in New Delhi, the engineer will work partly from the office and partly from home, collaborating with product, academic, and design teams to translate educational needs into robust technical solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include architecting and implementing back-end services and APIs, optimizing performance and security, writing clean and testable code, and reviewing contributions from other engineers. The role also involves integrating third-party services, maintaining documentation, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring high reliability and usability of the platform. Senior engineers are expected to mentor junior team members, advocate for engineering best practices, and contribute to technical roadmaps that align with the organization’s mission.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in core Computer Science concepts and Software Development practices.
Proficiency in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), with experience in at least one modern language such as Python, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
Hands-on expertise in Back-End Web Development, including building and maintaining APIs, microservices, and database-driven applications.
Experience designing scalable architectures, working with relational and NoSQL databases, and implementing security and performance best practices.
Comfort with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, with strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a hybrid work environment with cross-functional teams.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in edtech, social impact products, or mentoring technical teams is a plus.
