About The Role
KPMG is currently seeking a Senior Associate to join our Accounting Methods and Credit Services practice. This role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide research and development (R&D) tax credit consulting services. The Senior Associate will lead client interviews, perform technical research, and develop industry-specific expertise to accurately translate complex software development activities into qualified R&D tax definitions. The role requires understanding software development methodologies, object-oriented programming, and database management systems. The successful candidate will analyze technical documentation, construct technical narratives, and collaborate with engineers to ensure compliance with current tax laws, including section 41 guidelines. Qualifications
Minimum two years of recent full-time experience in product management, technology sales, or technology consulting
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or an equivalent field from an accredited institution
Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, C, C++, C#, or Visual Basic
Working knowledge of SQL, database concepts, software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Azure
Knowledge of computer infrastructure concepts, web-based architectures, and performance tuning of databases and middleware
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience engaging senior technical management and solution architects
Ability to travel and work at client locations as required
Responsibilities
Lead research and development tax credit consulting engagements, including client interviews and technical research
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to understand technical activities and translate them into tax-eligible R&D definitions
Review technical documentation to identify and document qualifying research activities
Construct clear and comprehensive technical narratives using industry-standard terminology
Work with engineers and subject matter experts to ensure technical findings align with current tax laws and guidelines
Develop industry expertise by analyzing diverse business activities and technical processes
Assist in preparing client reports and presentations that communicate complex technical concepts effectively
