About The Role
As a Staff Software Engineer specializing in Frontend on the Advanced Trading team within the Consumer & Business group, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical strategy and execution of Coinbase's trading platform for experienced traders. This high-impact position involves owning the performance, reliability, and scalability of web and mobile trading clients, ensuring low-latency and high-performance interfaces that support various trading instruments. You will lead complex, multi-quarter initiatives, mentor senior engineers, and collaborate closely with product and engineering leadership to deliver innovative features that meet business objectives. Your expertise will influence both the platform's architecture and the engineering culture, fostering scalable practices that support growth and excellence.
Qualifications
8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on front-end development
Deep expertise in modern front-end frameworks such as React, React Native, or equivalent technologies
Proven experience in optimizing complex UI systems for performance, including rendering, network efficiency, and state management at scale
Strong background in leading technical strategy, architecture decisions, and cross-team alignment for multi-quarter projects
Experience mentoring senior engineers and elevating engineering standards
Familiarity with high-availability, low-latency systems, particularly in trading platforms, financial systems, or real-time data applications
Knowledge of mobile development environments and cross-platform strategies
Ability to utilize generative AI responsibly to enhance workflows, ensuring human oversight and quality control
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
Responsibilities
Define and own the front-end technical roadmap for Coinbase Advanced, including architecture decisions that ensure a reliable, scalable trading platform across web and mobile
Drive performance improvements across rendering, network utilization, and state management to deliver a low-latency trading experience for users
Lead the end-to-end execution of complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives, setting high standards for code quality, system design, and engineering rigor
Mentor and develop senior engineers, fostering technical growth and decision-making capabilities within the team
Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to translate business priorities into actionable technical plans and deliver high-impact features
Establish and promote front-end engineering best practices, patterns, and conventions that support team scaling and development velocity
Ensure the robustness, performance, and security of trading interfaces by implementing best-in-class solutions and monitoring systems
Utilize AI tools responsibly to optimize workflows, improve system efficiencies, and enhance product quality
