About The Role
The Cyber Security Analyst position at BGS is a critical role supporting our clients' cybersecurity operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents, vulnerabilities, and threats within complex environments. This role involves working closely with service owners, IT teams, and security personnel to ensure the integrity and security of client systems. The analyst will perform tasks such as resetting user passwords, analyzing usage patterns, reviewing access requests, triaging unusual activity, and evaluating endpoint detection and response (EDR) coverage. The position requires a proactive approach to threat detection, incident response, and continuous improvement of security processes. The role offers an opportunity to develop and refine cybersecurity skills, contribute to mission-critical projects, and collaborate within a team dedicated to safeguarding client assets against evolving cyber threats.
Qualifications
1–3 years of experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC), cyber security 'blue team', or related role
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, and common network protocols (HTTP, DNS, SMTP)
Fundamental knowledge of Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems
Experience with Active Directory and Azure AD concepts
Proficiency with at least one SIEM platform and one EDR/XDR solution
Experience with ticketing and case management systems
Ability to craft queries using languages such as regex, JSON, and APIs
Basic scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash
U.S. citizenship and ability to qualify for an HSPD-12 card for two-factor authentication
Successful completion of drug screening
Relevant security certifications (e.g., Security+, CySA+, SSCP) are a plus
Responsibilities
Reset user passwords for compromised or suspected compromised accounts
Collaborate with service owners to reset service account passwords as needed
Ensure proper authorization for in-scope accounts and review access requests
Analyze account usage patterns to identify inactive or inappropriate activity
Review and evaluate approval requests for new access or accounts
Triaging and investigating unusual access requests, such as third-party VPN access or suspicious activity
Assess endpoint security status, including EDR installation and coverage, and coordinate remediation efforts
Monitor external attack surfaces for unapproved or undocumented systems and vulnerabilities
Review systems with public access to ensure compliance with security requirements, including logging and multifactor authentication
Participate in team meetings to discuss current tasks, improvements, and strategic initiatives
Analyze security data and assist in creating playbooks for incident response and threat mitigation
Execute and refine playbooks to respond to detected threats with minimal supervision
Identify telemetry gaps and recommend improvements for detection and visibility
Conduct proactive threat hunting and develop advanced detection use cases based on threat intelligence
Lead investigations from triage to containment, providing detailed reports on root causes, IOCs, and impacted assets
Coordinate containment and remediation activities, including host isolation, credential resets, and blocking malicious activity
