About The Role
The Senior Data Engineer is a vital member of our data team, responsible for collaborating with stakeholders including product teams, business partners, and cybersecurity to identify and clarify data requirements for innovative features and products. This role requires a deep understanding of the data ecosystem, security, privacy, and retention policies necessary to support business objectives and product development. The Senior Data Engineer will design, document, and implement technical solutions, including system architecture, tools, storage needs, and pipelines. They will present these solutions to peers, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and security standards. Staying current with market trends and emerging technologies, such as Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot), is essential to drive innovation and maintain the safety and security of product components. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of data technology, influencing the way data is managed, processed, and utilized across the organization.
Qualifications
2+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 5+ years of relevant work experience
Specialist: 4 or more years of relevant work experience
Experience in presenting technical solutions and capabilities to peers
Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to clarify requirements and define technical solutions
Experience designing and documenting technical components for data products or pipelines
Strong coding skills and adherence to coding standards and security requirements
Experience conducting unit testing and participating in user acceptance testing
Ability to build automation tools for data transformation, management, and monitoring
Proficiency in creating queries and implementing data extraction, transformation, and loading techniques
Knowledge of data quality assurance and performance monitoring practices
Experience troubleshooting pipeline issues and supporting software upgrades and security patches
Familiarity with industry trends and applying innovative solutions
Participation in code reviews and mentoring peers
Excellent communication skills for addressing client requests requiring technical expertise
Responsibilities
Collaborate proactively with stakeholders to clarify requirements and identify key product stakeholders
Review technical requirements, escalate potential design issues, and create detailed component designs and documentation
Implement code following best practices, applying security standards, and ensuring maintainability
Participate in code reviews, incorporate feedback, and take ownership of data products or pipeline components
Conduct unit testing, security scans, and participate in user acceptance testing to ensure quality
Develop tools and automation processes to facilitate data transformation, deployment, and monitoring
Create and optimize queries for data extraction, transformation, and validation
Ensure compliance with data governance, management principles, and performance monitoring protocols
Contribute to troubleshooting guidance and procedures for resolving pipeline issues
Support routine client requests with technical knowledge and assist in software upgrades and security remediation efforts
