Role Description The Vice President of Digital Engineering is a full-time remote role responsible for leading Orcas Capital’s digital engineering strategy and execution. This position oversees the design, development, and delivery of software products and platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing engineering teams, setting technical direction, prioritizing and tracking digital initiatives, and collaborating with product, operations, and compliance stakeholders. The role also involves establishing best practices for software development, optimizing development processes, mentoring engineering leaders, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high quality standards. The Vice President will regularly review performance metrics, drive continuous improvement, and support innovation in digital solutions that serve internal and external clients.

Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Engineering Management and Team Leadership skills to guide distributed engineering teams and foster a collaborative culture.
Candidates should possess Software Development experience with modern architectures, tools, and methodologies, and be able to make informed technical decisions.
Candidates should possess Project Management skills, including planning, prioritization, risk management, and stakeholder communication for complex initiatives.
Candidates should possess Product Development capabilities, including working closely with product stakeholders to define requirements and deliver customer-centric digital solutions.
Experience leading digital transformation or large-scale engineering programs, ideally in regulated or quality-driven environments.
Proficiency in agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and cloud-based technologies.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed environment and manage global or cross-functional teams.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or comparable professional experience.
