Role Description
The Vice President of Engineering is a full-time remote role responsible for leading the engineering function across Walk On Ventures’ products, platforms, and technology initiatives. This role oversees engineering teams, defines technical strategy, and ensures delivery of high-quality software solutions that support performance marketing, insurtech, and AI-driven capabilities. Day-to-day responsibilities include guiding architecture and implementation decisions, collaborating with product and advisory teams, managing project timelines, and driving continuous improvement in engineering practices. The Vice President of Engineering will establish best-in-class development processes, mentor engineering leaders, and ensure alignment between technology roadmaps and business objectives. This role also partners with founders and executive teams in portfolio and advisory companies to assess technical organizations, advise on scaling, and support critical growth and transformation initiatives.
Qualifications
Demonstrated strength in Engineering Management and Team Leadership, including building, developing, and retaining high-performing distributed engineering teams.
Proficiency in Software Development and Product Development, with hands-on experience designing and delivering scalable, secure, and reliable systems.
Proven ability in Project Management, overseeing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives from concept through execution and iteration.
Experience leading technology strategy in fast-growing or venture-backed environments, ideally involving performance marketing, insurtech, or AI-driven products.
Strong background in modern software architectures, cloud platforms, APIs, and data-driven engineering practices.
Ability to collaborate effectively with product, marketing, and executive stakeholders, translating business goals into actionable technical plans.
Track record of implementing engineering best practices, including code quality standards, testing, observability, security, and documentation.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, coach, and present to senior leaders and external partners.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or equivalent experience in senior engineering leadership is beneficial.
