Software Engineer II, Backend (Decisions Orchestration)

For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineer II, Backend (Decisions Orchestration) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.
This role will focus on building and improving backend systems that support decisioning and checkout experiences at scale. You will work closely with product leaders and cross-functional partners to shape technical direction, strengthen platform reliability, and deliver high-quality customer experiences. The position also calls for hands-on ownership of core components, thoughtful API and microservices design, and collaboration that helps raise engineering standards across the team.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $133,000 – $183,000 annually
Responsibilities
Design and implement innovative solutions for checkout systems
Own and maintain components of the checkout platform
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the checkout experience
Identify and implement improvements for system performance and reliability
Contribute to engineering standards and best practices
Drive technical decisions and project definitions with product leaders
Mentor and support fellow engineers to foster team growth
Qualifications
5-7 years of experience in backend software development
Proficiency in Python and Kotlin
Experience with API design and microservices architecture
Strong understanding of database management with MySQL and Redis
Familiarity with cloud services, particularly AWS
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
