Software Engineering Manager (Java & Python)

For our client, we are seeking a Software Engineering Manager (Java & Python) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.
This role will lead the architecture, development, and delivery of cloud-native legal technology solutions that support business-critical legal operations. You will guide a team of engineers while remaining hands-on in coding, reviews, troubleshooting, and technical decision-making across APIs, cloud services, and integrations. The position also calls for strong collaboration with non-technical stakeholders to improve reliability, security, performance, and operational outcomes.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $120,000 – $193,725 annually
Responsibilities
Lead the architecture and development of legal technology products and platforms
Design and maintain cloud-native applications and APIs for legal operations
Contribute to software development through coding, code reviews, and troubleshooting
Integrate vendor legal applications with enterprise systems to improve reliability and security
Drive technical decisions on cloud platforms and AI services
Own product reliability, security, and performance, including incident response
Mentor and coach engineers while fostering a culture of innovation
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in software engineering and management roles
Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and REST APIs
Proficiency in Python for automation and platform engineering
Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS
Familiarity with AI technologies, including Generative AI and LLMs
Background in Legal Technology, Compliance, or Regulatory Technology preferred
Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
